All of us know George’s Lucas’s famous movie Star Wars and the pop culture lifestyle that has been produced as a result. While I do not want to be bombarded by fans all over the world by my inaccuracies and lack of attention to detail, I would like to bring your attention to one of the well known aspects of the Jedi’s in the movie. It is the Jedi mind trick that is used and how a wave of a hand enables them to control the mind of the enemy. Very soon gates are opened and escapes are made. Information can be easily retrieved from the enemy and they are now 1 step away from success.

The princess is saved, the Empire defeated and the galaxy restored to the order it should be in. While our lives may not have the drama that the double trilogy might have, how surprised would you be to know that a very close cousin of that Jedi mind trick is available online? Isn’t it amazing? Well, welcome to the world where subliminal messages rules. From the movie, it seems as if the Jedi is able to speak and embed that message into another person’s subconscious just with a wave of a hand. Immediately the statement becomes truth and life goes on by as they planned. I could not have found a better description for the technology of subliminal messages and in essence, this is what they do. For a start, replace the wave of the hand with an auditory or visual medium. That is the distraction.

Most of the auditory or visual medium comes with relaxing music or serene scenery. The message is cleverly embedded into it as something that the normal conscious awareness cannot pick up, but is launched straight into the cortex of the brain, where it floats around - only to be picked up by the subconscious. How the subconscious works is that it believes all the messages that it receives and proceeds to follow their instructions to the letter.This is because it also believes that it has gone through all the necessary security measures and filters of the conscious mind and other cognitive defences like rational thinking and critical thought.

Basically, the subconscious mind read data and accept it as it is, without questioning its relevancy.This is a very powerful form of mind control, but the only difference between you and Luke Skywalker is that you are doing it on yourself. Most of us would have dreamed of kicking those bad habits and addictions away.While others might have certain traits that they wish to change. Using this new form of Jedi mind tricks, or subliminal messaging, we are able to push through the conscious mind and thus implant messages directly into the controlling core of our emotions, spirit and soul - thus changing ourselves for the better and transforming our lives.
